WSU School of Music presents its final choral concert of the year

The WSU Concert Choir, Madrigal/Chamber Singers, and University Singers take the stage Thursday night for the final choral concert of the year.

The concert will feature a variety of songs performed by each of the respective groups.

The Madrigal/Chamber Singers, directed by Lori Wiest, will start off the concert with songs from the Renaissance, three German Art Songs, and two songs by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

Wiest will also direct the Concert Choir as they perform a number of poems set to contemporary American music, with music by Kirke Mechem and poetry by Sara Teasdale.  The choir will also perform a poem by Pablo Neruda set to Soneto de la Noche. In addition, the choir will perform an arrangement of Let Me Fly featuring a few soloists from the choir.  Darnell Epps, a graduate student majoring in piano will accompany the choir.

Choral Conducting Graduate Student Mark Reagan will direct the University Singers in a variety of pieces, including an a cappella arrangement of Poor Wayfaring Stranger.  The piece will feature soloists Laura Lorber and Dani Van Slyke.  The choir will also perform a gospel piece, He Never Failed Me Yet, featuring soloists Jennifer Kurz and Jason Balera.

The concert will be on Thursday, April 22 at 8:00 p.m. in the Bryan Hall Theatre.  It will be open to the public, free of charge.  For more information about the performances, click here.
