Dept. of Dance presents final dance showcase, “United We DANCE”

Directed by Crystal Fullmer, the WSU Department of Theatre and Dance will hold its final dance performance this weekend, opening with a matinee show tomorrow.  “United We DANCE” will include a variety of styles of dance, including classical and contemporary ballet, hip hop, modern and lyrical dance, and jazz.  The event will also feature the WSU Hawaiian Club, the Northwest Dance Center, and the WSU Elite Dance Company.

Performances will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, and Sunday, April 25, with an additional showing Saturday evening at 7:00.  All performances will be held in Daggy Hall Jones Theatre.

Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for WSU students with ID and senior citizens, and $5 for youth under 17. Admission is free for WSU grad students and their partners.  To reserve tickets, call  509-335-7236 or email reservations@wsu.edu.

Yarn Owl performs to celebrate Earth Day

Yarn Owl, a group comprised of local musicians, will fills the lawns of the University of Idaho with its unique music this afternoon to celebrate Earth Day.  The concert kicks off at 3 p.m. and goes until 9 p.m.  Check out more information on the event here.

Yarn Owl started in 2007 when Javier Suarez, Tim Meinig, Tyler Armour, and Ted Powers all met while working at KZUU 90.7 FM at WSU. The musicians have infused 60s and 70s pop with a bit of indie style.  Visit the Yarn Owl official site to listen to some of the band’s popular songs.

The band currently has a 7-song tape out entitled “Tiny Dots” and plan on releasing its 6-song EP, “Stay Warm,” sometime this summer.  For updates on the band, become a Facebook fan-page.

‘LandEscapes’ 2010 release party

The 2010 edition of the literary magazine ‘LandEscapes’ will be released next week at a special release party.   The event will be held in Todd 268 at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 26.  For more details about the event, click here.

The release party will feature readings from various magazine contributors, as well as some giveaways for attendees.  Dinner will also be provided by the School of Hospitality and Business Management.

‘LandEscapes’ is a student produced literary magazine featuring non-fiction, fiction, poetry, art, photography, and musical pieces created by members of the WSU community.  Become a member of the ‘LandEscapes’ Facebook group for more information regarding the magazine throughout the year.

If you are interested in being more involved with LandEscapes next here, applications for various editing positions are due on April 26.  Interviews for positions will be held shortly after applications have been assessed.  Applicants should include a cover letter and to résumé, as well as any writing samples, web projects, or samples of Photoshop work that would be applicable to the position you are interested in.  For additional information about the positions, contact laineyguddat@gmail.com, and send all application components to the same e-mail address.
